The project of restoration of the Riga Nativity Orthodox Cathedral under the name “Svet” (Light) was launched by the initiative of Guntis Rāvis and Skonto Būve.

The donations, knowledge, and work invested by Skonto Būve during the complete restoration process resulted in the resurrection of one of the most spectacular and historically important buildings in the centre of Riga.

The cathedral has given us the light for many years. Miraculously not ruined, it was a symbol of unshattered spirituality during the Soviet period.

This is why “Svet” is a project of European, if not global, scale. It is equally unique in terms of cultural heritage, sociopolitics, and spirituality.
