The July release of 50,000 brown trout larvae into the Pededze River basin completed the release of fish larvae within the framework of the "Return of One Million Trout" project, initiated by Skonto Būve. Total brown trout larvae released into the basins of seven rivers amounted to 250,000. The next release of brown trout larvae is planned for next spring.

In order to renew the population of brown trout, a million brown trout larvae were released into the rivers of Latvia over a period of four years, within the framework of "Return of One Million Trout" project initiated by Skonto Būve - 250,000 larvae each year.

The sites for the release of fish larvae were chosen based on scientific research data about Latvian rivers, in order to renew the population of brown trout in rivers that are suitable for brown trout, which have very low or absent populations of brown trout and where the further survival of the species is endangered.

The Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment BIOR gave permission to release brown trout larvae into the basins of seven rivers in Latvia - Ogre, Jugla, Lielupe, Venta, Engure, Gauja and Pededze.

The brown trout larvae were released by the society Mēs Zivīm (We for Fish), while they were bred at three fish nurseries in Latvia - Tome of BIOR, Sia Faps and Z/s Sillakas.
