Main Prize of Skonto Būve Slam Dunk Contest to Stay in Latvia

The third twenty-four hour Krastu Mačs basketball tournament was opened by  the Skonto Būve slam dunk contest. The main prize of EUR 3,000 was won by Kristaps Dārgais, who managed to defeat Jeremy Evans, Utah Jazz, the winner of the slam dunk contest of the NBA All Star-Game.

Guntis Rāvis, Skonto Būve Management Board Chairman: "I am proud that Skonto Būve had the chance to bring international level basketball stars to Latvia to promote the development of Latvian sport. We have a good sports tradition, Latvia has had the opportunity to be proud of an international level basketball team. By inviting NBA stars to Latvia, we hope to inspire both youth and professional athletes for new challenges and achievements. I am convinced that now our athletes will demonstrate results that are worthy of respect at the slam dunk contest".

The contest jury comprised Ramūns Butauts, senior coach of VEF Rīga team, Dāvis Bertāns, Kristaps Janičenoks, captain of VEF Rīga team, Guntis Rāvis, Skonto Būve Management Board Chairman as the representative of the sponsor, and Māris Štrombergs, BMX racer, double Olympic champion. 

Meanwhile the Krastu Mačs tournament, which was supported by Skonto Būve, was won by the team from the right bank of the River Daugava. Both professional athletes and enthusiasts of sport, artists and politicians, led by the example of Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, participated in the event.


“Skonto Būve” Ltd. supports NBA star’s visit to Riga

“Skonto Būve” Ltd. supports the most remarkable twenty-four hour basketball tournament in the Baltic states: the ”Krastu mačs”, acting as the main sponsor of the slam dunk (scoring from above) competition with the participation of the winner of the NBA star game’s slam dunk competition 2012 - Jeremy Evans (Utah Jazz).

Along with other participants, a team from “Skonto Būve” will also participate in the tournament “Krastu mačs”; it will play against the Freeport of Riga administration staff.

For even more excitement for visitors and participants, as well as the twenty-four hour basketball marathon there will also be a special competition for three-point field goals, and the slam dunk competition featuring world-famous basketball stars. ”Krastu mačs” is not only a sport event, it is also an entertainment and cultural; all-day basketball will be accompanied by the best DJs - Defkut (France), AIVA, Bogdan Taran, Rudd, Artūrs Mednis, Kaspar Kondrat, Monstrs and others. There will also be other basketball related activities – cheer-leader performances, street gymnasts, trial shows, etc.
 


250,000 Trout Larvae Released into Small Rivers in Latvia with Skonto Būve’s Support

The July release of 50,000 brown trout larvae into the Pededze River basin completed the release of fish larvae within the framework of the "Return of One Million Trout" project, initiated by Skonto Būve. Total brown trout larvae released into the basins of seven rivers amounted to 250,000. The next release of brown trout larvae is planned for next spring.

In order to renew the population of brown trout, a million brown trout larvae were released into the rivers of Latvia over a period of four years, within the framework of "Return of One Million Trout" project initiated by Skonto Būve - 250,000 larvae each year. 

The sites for the release of fish larvae were chosen based on scientific research data about Latvian rivers, in order to renew the population of brown trout in rivers that are suitable for brown trout, which have very low or absent populations of brown trout and where the further survival of the species is endangered.

The Scientific Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment BIOR gave permission to release brown trout larvae into the basins of seven rivers in Latvia - Ogre, Jugla, Lielupe, Venta, Engure, Gauja and Pededze.

The brown trout larvae were released by the society Mēs Zivīm (We for Fish), while they were bred at three fish nurseries in Latvia - Tome of BIOR, Sia Faps and Z/s Sillakas.


Skonto Būve – branch reputation leader

This year Skonto Būve has taken 1st place in the Reputation Top of Latvian Enterprises created by the newspaper Diena and public relations agency Nords Porter Novelli in the field of construction and real estate, but in total – 89th place.

Both the evaluation of entrepreneurs and the population of Skonto Būve activities was high – awarding the first place among construction branch enterprises.

This is already the second year that Skonto Būve has been acknowledged as the branch reputation leader in the Reputation Top.
 


The international conference Rehabilitation of Gudrona Ponds, organised by Skonto Būve, has taken place

In order to learn more about the Gudrona Ponds rehabilitation works and applied technologies performed by Skonto Būve, specialists from nine countries came to Latvia for the international conference Rehabilitation of Gudrona Ponds. The Gudrona Ponds rehabilitation in Inčukalns was taken as an example for observation during the conference.

During the international conference the specialists from Skonto Būve and German enterprise MUEG delivered presentations on the rehabilitation process of Gudrona Ponds, discussing the Gudrona purification possibilities and applied technologies. The participants had an opportunity to go to Inčukalns and see Gudrona Ponds for themselves.

Specialists from 9 countries took part in the conference – Germany, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Romania, Croatia and other countries with a similar problem.
