On 3 November, 2017 a symbolic message capsule for future generations was built in the foundations of the new fire station of the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) on Jaunpils Street, Riga.

The event was attended by the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Dimitrijs Trofimovs, Executive Director of the City of Riga Juris Radzevičs, Director of the State Security Agency Ēriks Ivanovs, Commander of the State Fire-Fighting and Rescue Service colonel Oskars Āboliņš and Member of the Council of Skonto Būve, Ivars Millers.

The VUGD fire station on Jaunpils Street will be the largest of all of the newly built fire stations, because the premises will not only be occupied by the operative staff, who respond to day-to-day calls, but also the management of the VUGD Riga region administration and fire safety inspectors.

Construction works on the site were started in October 2017 and are carried out by the construction company SIA “Skonto Būve”.
